First Time YHWH was Known According to the Torah, a Contradiction

Here is another contradiction for those that actually study the biblical texts and comb it over.

Point: it is one thing when a narrator of a story lives in a more modern generation and he is speaking of a time in the distant past and so he will use modern names for places. He does this just for the sake of modern readers to know the general location where things are. Even though those names didnt exist yet in regards to the time frame he is referring to.

The Torah does this a lot actually. A quick example is this.... according to the times given in the Torah and the whole Tanach.... the Exodus took place in 1505 BCE. Thus, Moses lived then too, supposedly.

Then we find that while Israel was in Egypt as slaves, they built "Ramesses."

Well, the problem is.... Ramesses lived between 1303–1213 BCE. The real city that the people built was "Avaris," which exists directly under Ramesses.

So that isn't really too big of an issue, though they didn't actually build Ramesses in truth, but Avaris.

Nonetheless, let me digress from this for a moment.

However, in Exodus 6:2-3 we read...

"And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am Yehowah: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of El Shaddai, but by my name Yehowah was I not known to them."

Is this true though?

Like i said.... it is one thing for a modern narrator to put modern words in place.... for you can read the name Yehowah early on in Genesis, long before Abraham came around..And, in most parts His name is just in the narrative, not in direct quotes.

However, when we get to Jacob's son... the name of Yehowah was apparently known despite what is being claimed in these two verses in Exodus.

"How is that?" you might ask.

It is seen in the name of Yoseph/Joseph. For the Yo- is a shortened version of Yeho-. Meaning Yehowah.

So we see that Exodus 6 couldn't have taken place. That or Joseph wasn't really called Yoseph, but maybe El-seph or Seph-el.

Whatever the case, that is a big contradiction.
